Have you ever found yourself roaming through the Woolworths Food Court during LUNCH time?
One phrase: an all you can taste buffet!
What started out as sight seeing through the aisles, turned my hands towards grabbing the one thing I reasoned with myself to purchase, then turned into playing a role of a food taster, deliberately choosing “mmhh” and “yum” to fully portray my role and describe the foods put out on display- dried mango and peach, popcorn and cute square bowls filled with robust Devilliers chocolate pieces.
Personally, I’m not a fan of sweets-ESPECIALLY chocolate. However, my perception did changed the minute Cynthia (at the Devilliers stand) convinced me to taste a piece out. One turned two, two turned three, three turned into considering purchasing a whole slab- of which I didn’t (fighting temptation!)..
Apart from Cynthia’s motivational speech, my attention shifted to focus on the TV looping the process of how this chocolate is made.
With Coffee beans, bitter to the taste, extracted from Uganda and handmade into chocolate, in central Paarl in Cape Town, each DeVilliers slab is intentionally crafted to arouse the taste buds.
Each slab- dark or white milk- has its own intense taste ranging from full-bodied chocolate to fruity honeyed white, to tarty pure dark chocolate flavours infused with nutty-tangy flairs. Each slab is a teaser with its own unique palatable taste for those willing to dare.
